Casting Your Channel

Signage Signage platform does not require special hardware to cast your channels or playlists. Any device with a web browser you can connect to your screen will do! There are, however, a few recommendations for optimal performance.

Prerequisites

  1. A device running a relatively modern web browser. Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari and Firefox are officially supported. In addition, Chromium-based browsers should work as expected (Opera, Brave, Vivaldi, etc).
  2. A speedy internet connection for smooth transitions and to avoid buffering while playing videos.

Finding Your Channel URL

  1. Click or tap “Channels” from the Dashboard.

  2. Click the link icon under the desired channel’s name.

Voilà! The channel link is ready to be pasted into the browser’s address bar of your casting device.

Displaying the Channel on Browser Launch

It is practical to have your default channel automatically displayed whenever the device and the web browser are restarted. To do that in Chrome, follow the following steps:

  1. Open Chrome’s settings.
  2. From the sidebar, click “On startup”.
  3. Choose “Open a specific page or set of pages” then “Add a new page”.
  4. Paste your channel URL, and click “Add”.

Other browsers have similar approaches to automatically launching a URL at startup.

Casting a Playlist

In some cases, instead of a Channel, it is desirable to use a bare Playlist as an output of a screen. To do that, follow the same steps described above but by getting your casting URL from the Playlists section instead of the Channels section.

If you are unsure what to pick, see the differences between playlists and channels.

Recommended Casting Devices

While any device with a supported web browser can be used, if you are buying a new device for the purpose of displaying Signage Signage platform outputs, we recommend you look into mini Chrome OS computers. Chromeboxes are reliable, secure and inexpensive.
